'Wonder Festival 2020 Winter' had a lot of new items on show.
Ollie BarderAfter the busy Wonder Festival from last Summer, this latest Winter event had a lot of new items on show. With some of the biggest additions being the upcoming Nendoroid figures for both Fortnite and The Witcher.
Before we get to that though, itâs worth covering some of the new toys and model kits from other companies.
Sentinel had a solid showing this Winter with new Mospeada and Tekkaman Blade toys, as well as a from nice figure of Vega from the cult classic anime movie Genma Taisen. Though the upcoming insect toys from Nausicaä, such as the Ohmu, also looked amazing.
Talking of Nausicaä, Kaiyodo had some very nice figures for some of the Torumekian knights and Evangelion also had a big presence this year across Wonder Festival in general. Not least because the last Rebuild of Evangelion movie is out later this year. So the new Evangelion Revoltech figures were not a big surprise but still very nicely done.
The upcoming Nendoroids from 'The Witcher' series.
Ollie BarderGetting back to those Nendoroids from Fortnite and The Witcher. The Good Smile Company booth had a lot on show. From new Moderoid model kits from Patlabor and Escaflowne, to a lovely kit of Great Zeorymer as featured in the Game Boy Advance game Super Robot Wars J.
The Fortnite Nendoroids revealed some of the new figures in the forthcoming line-up too, with the seemingly finalized Cuddle Team Leader figure released this July (shown below and you can pre-order it here). Likewise with The Witcher Nendoroids of both Geralt and Ciri, released in June and September respectively (again you can order those here and here), we also got to see a new Yennefer Nendoroid prototype (shown above).

Ollie BarderFollowing that, the other big reveal was all the kits and toys on the way for the Brave series, with GaoGaiGar getting a lot of attention. As this year marks the 30th anniversary for the Brave series, itâs not all that surprising that we are getting some very nice new toys from shows like GaoGaiGar. That said, I was hoping to see at least one new chogokin type toy for Great Might Gaine, after its appearance in the last three mainline Super Robot Wars games.
Finally, I was glad to see that Diaclone is still doing well and itâs current line-up of toys is now genuinely impressive. Considering that this was a reboot of an 80âs toyline, that in part helped to birth Transformers, I wasnât expecting it to be this successful. So I am happy to see Takara Tomy forging ahead with this.
Overall, this latest Wonder Festival had a lot of interesting new things on show and I am increasingly impressed with Good Smile Companyâs output as of late. Not only in securing big gaming licenses like Fortnite and The Witcher, but with its solid and ever expanding array of Moderoid model kits.
