'Call of Duty' is firing a salvo at 'Fortnite,' with a new, mobile video game that includes a battle royale mode for up to 100 players.
"Call of Duty: Mobile," out Tuesday for Android and iOS devices, is a free-to-play game featuring a variety of maps, weapons, characters and play modes from the multibillion-dollar "Call of Duty: Black Ops" and "Modern Warfare" video game franchises.
Other popular multiplayer modes in the game include Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, and Domination. Popular maps from the game franchise that will be included are Nuketown, Crash, Hijacked and more.
âCall of Duty: Mobile represents a landmark moment for us to bring one of the most successful entertainment franchises in history to the worldâs largest platform,â said Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick. âThis is a triple-A, free to play experience that weâre delivering to a whole new audience of fans.â

While the game is free to play, you can spend money on fanciful weapons including psychedelic colored guns and grenades, special uniforms and gear, and experience points to strengthen your weapons.The mobile game, which has launched worldwide except for mainland China, Vietnam, Belgium, is created by Tencentâs Timi studio and has already been available in China and Australia. The Chinese tech giant, which has a 5% stake in Activision Blizzard, also developed the Call of Duty Online game that went live in China in January 2015.
